About Limerick

A BIT OF HISTORY

Limerick was founded in 2004 by four seasoned industry scientific executives, to modulate trafficking of CNS depressants (opioids and others) through the brainstem. The original hypothesis was that the benefits seen with our compounds were derived by activating transport of toxic molecules out of tissues. The original product scaffold was subjected to medicinal chemistry efforts and subsequent analogues proved effective at modulating toxicity of existing products. In addition, other analogues demonstrated selectivity at modulating insulin sensitivity and dyslipidemia. The original hypothesis has thus been expanded and now encompasses Limerick’s franchises in immunosuppression and metabolic diseases.

Limerick Biopharma’s Series A financing was completed on St. Patrick’s Day in 2006 and the Company was named “Limerick” to commemorate the occasion.
