Kristina Burow

ARCH Venture Partners

Kristina Burow is a Partner with ARCH, joining the firm in 2002. Her investment focus includes biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, alternative energy and chemicals. Ms. Burow is a co-founder and director of Sapphire Energy and a director of Lycera, Receptos and Limerick BioPharma. She has participated in the funding and development of several other portfolio companies including Ensemble Discovery, Achaogen, Kythera Biopharmaceuticals, Ikaria, Accelerator Corporation and Quanterix.

Ms. Burow joined ARCH from the Novartis BioVenture Fund in San Diego where she was involved in numerous investments in the life science sector. Previously, as an early employee at the Genomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation (GNF), she directed Chemistry Operations and was active in Business Development. Ms. Burow holds an M.B.A. from The University of Chicago, an M.A. in Chemistry from Columbia University, and a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley.

Steve Dow

Sevin Rosen Funds

Steve Dow, a general partner at Sevin Rosen Funds since 1983, has been an advisor to entrepreneurs building companies in a wide variety of markets and technologies. In addition to board appointments at Limerick and private companies Alder Pharmaceuticals, Plectix, Kabira, and RNT, Mr. Dow serves on the boards of two public companies, Citrix (CTXS) and Cytokinetics (CYTK). In both of these public companies, he helped incubate them and had been involved in the early formation of their initial business plans. Mr. Dow has a BA and an MBA from Stanford University.

Corey S. Goodman, PhD

Independent, Limerick Board Chairman

Corey Goodman, an elected member of the National Academy of Sciences, spent several decades as a neuroscience and developmental biology professor at Stanford and U.C. Berkeley, and today is on the faculty of U.C. San Francisco. He has played a public service role as a science advisor on the national level at the National Research Council, and on the state level at the California Council on Science and Technology. An entrepreneur, he founded two successful biotechnology companies, served as CEO of one of them, and later brought an entrepreneurial biotech model of R&D to the world’s largest Pharma company.

Dr. Goodman was President of Pfizer’s Biotherapeutics and Bioinnovation Center (BBC), and a member of Pfizer’s Executive Leadership Team. He designed and built a new R&D model for Pfizer with a focus on discovering and developing new therapeutics for major unmet medical needs, and fostering innovation and game-changing technology. The BBC is focused on translating biomedical discoveries into new medicines in oncology, diabetes, chronic pain, Alzheimer’s Disease, cardiovascular disease, ophthalmology, and inflammatory disease. Dr. Goodman built a federation of biotech-like sites at major biotech hubs around the world, collaborated broadly with the academic, biomedical, biotech, and venture communities, and focused on biology-based therapeutics including advanced antibody technologies, new approaches to turn peptides into drugs, to turn nucleic acids into drugs, and new ways to harness the potential of stem cells for regenerative medicine.

Dr. Goodman has advised numerous biotechnology companies, and co-founded Exelixis and Renovis. He has advised the biotech venture capital community. He served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Renovis, taking it from a private to public company, until the announced acquisition by Evotec. He serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of Limerick BioPharma, iPierian, and PhyloTech, and Vice Chair of the Supervisory Board of Evotec.

Among his public service roles, Dr. Goodman is a member of the California Council on Science and Technology, a member of the Board of the McKnight Endowment Fund for Neuroscience, BayBio, Biotechnology Institute, the Bay Area Science and Innovation Consortium (BASIC), the New York Stem Cell Foundation, the QB3 (UCSF-UCB-UCSC) Industry Advisory Board, Stanford’s BioX Interdisciplinary Biosciences Advisory Council, and the Scientific Advisory Board of the Spinal Muscular Atrophy Foundation.

He is former Chair of the National Research Council's Board on Life Sciences (BLS). The BLS was involved in many important studies for the federal government, including reports on stem cells and the future of regenerative medicine, the guidelines for human stem cell research, the report on human reproductive cloning, enhancing the vitality of the National Institutes of Health, transforming undergraduate education for future research biologists (BIO 2010), and numerous key environmental, pathogen, and biomedical security reports.

Dr. Goodman joined Limerick BioPharma’s Board of Directors in the Spring of 2007 and was elected as Chairman of the Board in the Summer of 2009.

Wendye Robbins, MD

Limerick BioPharma

Wendye Robbins has distinguished herself as an innovator, entrepreneur, scientist, team builder, leader, and educator. She is a frequent advisor and lecturer to pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries and mentor to entrepreneurs. Dr. Robbins holds an ongoing appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor at the Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Robbins was scientific founder of NeurogesX, Inc. (NASD:NGSX), a biopharmaceutical company developing pain management therapies, where she held the positions of President, Chief Medical Officer and Vice Chairman of the Board. Dr. Robbins received her BS from the University of California, Berkeley Haas School of Business and her MD from the Medical College of Pennsylvania. She completed post graduate training in internal medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and in anesthesiology and pain medicine at the Johns Hopkins University Medical Institutions. She is board certified in anesthesiology.

Chad Waite

Chad Waite joined OVP Venture Partners in 1987 and focuses on investments in the digital biology and network security sectors. His investments include 4thPass, Accelerator, Adapx, Airgo Networks, Boston Beer, Cardima, CellPro, Complete Genomics, Corixa, Filenet, GenoLogics, Limerick BioPharma, Loudeye Technologies, NanoString, Napera Networks, Plectix BioSystems, ProTools, Quantum Medical, Raytel Medical, Returns Online, Rosetta Inpharmatics, SafeHarbor, Saros, Seattle Genetics, SignalSoft, Syntellect, Vantos, Verdezyne, Verity, and WatchGuard. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Accelerator, Adapx, Complete Genomics, GenoLogics, Limerick BioPharma, NanoString, Napera Networks, Plectix BioSystems, SafeHarbor, and Verdezyne, and is a Board Observer to Allozyne and Talyst.

Prior to joining OVP, Chad was a General Partner at Hambrecht & Quist Venture Partners where he focused on investments in IT and life sciences. Prior to H&Q, he was in marketing and sales management at Cobe Laboratories, Inc. in its cardiovascular medical products division.

Chad received his BA in History from Kenyon College and his MBA from Harvard Business School. He is a board member of the Washington Technology Alliance, a member of the Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU) BSIF Advisory Board and a member of the University of Washington's Technology Transfer Advisory Board. He is a Trustee at Kenyon College and has also served as a board member of the NVCA. He is the proud father of three grown children, is an avid cyclist and snowboarder, and loves fine wine.
